MARLIJN FRANKEN geeft hier actuele informatie over haar multimediaal kunstproject 'Transparantie' met ANITA DE HARDE (28 oktober t/m 15 november in het Glazen Huis, Amstelpark te Amsterdam). Waaaaanzinnig optreden van SECONDDANCEDOLL: videokunstenaar Spinsekt en Steefeest, minimal music. Wat een symbiose. Zie foto-album 7/11. Video-impressie volgt. Puur genieten was dit, zij schildert met videobeelden, hij zet zijn muziek eronder, zij reageert op zijn muziek. Als zij dan ook nog in witte vlindercatsuit van Marlijn in eigen beelden een performance doet, valt alles op zijn plek. Puur genieten was dit. Schoonheid, magie!!!

It was a walk in the park and the rain through the beautiful Amstelpark to the Glazen Huis for the show "TRANSPARANTIE," by two artists. Marlijn Franken began her career as a theater and film costume designer. About four years ago when the creative challenges for those two mediums began to diminish she turned her talent to using fabric and material in a conceptual manner or, in other words, to become an artist. Her first efforts echoed the fashion influences that she was familiar with, but the current work is a clear break from that, though there are a few examples of earlier style of her work on display. She features, in this show, 30 to 100+ cms., high stela like objects which are often presented as a pair. They are made from a synthetic fabric material and layered strip-by-strip into a monumental form. Considering that it is fabric they are far from being colorful which you might expect. She uses the hues of bronze, gold, ochres and subdued blues, oranges and ochres. There is also a series where she has molded the torso of a nude into the fabric with subtle visual results. The piece hangs from the ceiling or a wall. Your choice. There are three or four "dresses" on display, but 3D isn't sure you can wear them. The show stopper is a two minute video loop with a full 60 minute new age musical composition. Franken shot half of it in Amstelpark capturing the onslaught of autumn with its falling leaves. But, in her editing, she has turned this simple idea into a conceptual and abstract manifestation of the event. Nice! Anita de Harde has a unique voice which she vocalizes by combining geometric abstraction with the figurative. She expresses these two styles in a different way with each individualistic work. In one series, the human form is seen only from the waist down and with its shadow, but even that she expresses not as a mirror image but as an abstraction. The paintings are mixed media in both oil and acrylic as well as gold leaf and the latter is used subtlety. (30x40 cms., drawings in acrylic on paper @ 175 euro; 70x70 cms., oil/acrylic on canvas @ 750 euro; 120x100 cms., oil/acrylic on canvas @ 1,950 euro.) Until 15th November. N.B. Ondanks de strooomende regen, 170 bezoekers! De stand is nu 5 'red dots'. Rob Perrée hield een prachtige openingsspeech. Supercity Band - helaas zonder zanger/gitarist Yvo, maar mét spontaan meezingende Sylvia, zette een fijne sfeer neer. Waanzinnig lekkere catering van ChefSjoerd.

We hebben een spreker; Rob Perrée zal onze expositie openen! Hij is kunstcriticus (Kunstbeeld) en curator. In augustus schreef hij een stuk over ons project, zie de betreffende pagina op deze site.
Tweede presentatiemoment: weekend 3 + 4 oktober. Marlijn's atelier is opgeruimd en als galerie/atelier ingericht. In 2 middagen bezochten ruim 300 geïnteresseerden het atelier.
